Blogger irate over impending cancellation of "Arrested Development"

NEW YORK, NY - Blogger Derek Winzler, author of whydontyoublogaboutit.blogspot.com, recently spent nearly 500 words lamenting the critically lauded yet all-but-cancelled "Arrested Development" on his Wednesday post.

"Once again Fox shows why employing lobotomized invalids is far from a viable way to effectively run a network. While 'Arrested's' death knell can hardly be considered a surprise, I'm confident the show's rabid fan base will heed the call by buying DVDs and writing letters, leading Fox to realize they've made a huge mistake," Winzler wrote in his post, entitled "Television executives with low self-esteem."

Winzler went on to criticize Fox's long-standing policy of trying out daring new shows yet cancelling them before they established a profitable following.

"First 'The Tick,' then 'Family Guy' and now 'Arrested.' Why must Fox keep teasing the few intellectuals remaining in our society? Why even give 'Arrested' a shot in the first place if it was going to end up being a bigger cocktease than that slut in college who had sex with everyone but by the time she got to me claimed she was 'over all that orgy business'?"

When reached for comment in his Lower East Side domicile, Winzler paused reflectively while nursing a Rheingold. "'Arrested' gave us so many memorable characters and more quotable lines than the last 12 seasons of 'The Simpsons' combined. For Christ's sake, Gob might be the funniest character ever birthed by a television series. It's a crime against humanity that Will Arnett hasn't been casted in everything ever."

Winzler's passion for the show seemed to resonate amongst his readership, as comment after comment poured in expressing sadness and dismay over a show that seemingly everyone was into, yet somehow no one was actually watching.

Many of Winzler's commenters and fellow bloggers seemed to take to the idea of drinking themselves into oblivion to ease the pain. At no other time in the history of the earth has the phrase "as if I needed another reason to drink" been posted so many times on the Internet in a 24-hour period.

However, Winzler was optimistic about the show's future.

"Look, I know Fox knows about the Internet; Rupert Murdoch bought freaking MySpace for Christ's sake. All I can hope for is that more bloggers like myself take up the cause and post how angry and depressed they are about the 'Arrested's' cancellation, and eventually someone at Fox will do a Technorati search and see how very wrong they were."

At last count there were 2,345,953 new blog posts decrying the termination of "Arrested Development," with a staggering 98% originating south of 14th Street in Manhattan.

I'm with you. This is the greatest show on television. Keep Bob Loblaw employed.

I mean there are dozens of us, dozens.
If Fox would just look around at amazon.com or any blog search they'd see the rabid AD fan following. I mean I probably have had like 30 posts on the subject of cancelation since last friday.

Let me preface this by saying that I love Arrested Development, and that Fox has fucked up a ton of stuff in the past...

But 2 and a half seasons! Do you know how much more that is than so many good shows? Than Freaks and Geeks, Undeclared, Andy Richter, or Wonderfalls? 2 and a half seasons and the ratings were going down.

This isn't Fox's fault, it's America's.

I agree with Megan, and already blogged about how I'll be bummed when it gets shitcanned. But, I'm pretty surprised-- and even more stoked-- that it's even lasted this long. I only wish the same could be said of Freaks and Geeks and so many others.

I don't know...

Admittedly, I've never seen an episode of AR, but I would call into question the writers credibility if he uses the live action version of "The Tick" as an example.

That shit was horrible, and I am a BIG fan of The Tick comics and the cartoon series.

Shoot, maybe he meant the cartoon version, which was also premeturely cancelled.

I just talked myself out of my own arguement.

Move on people, nothing to see here.
