Retro Cell Phones
It's only a matter of time before the whole retro craze hits the cell phone industry. Cell phones have already been mainstream now for almost seven years; and I was very disheartened to find that upon Googling the phrases "Vintage Cell Phones," "Retro Cell Phones" and even "Cell Phone Graveyard" that I came up with nothing substantial. Come on people, these are web sites waiting to happen, and I just gave you ideas for domain names free of charge!
How great would it be to have a web site that had a gallery of every cell phone ever released, categorized by year and service provider? I'd love to be able to look up a picture and statistics of the first cell phone I ever had back in 1999, this wonderful Samsung mini-flip phone for Sprint. It was definitely one of the cooler-looking phones at the time (I always hated Nokias), and a viable alternative to the almighty Motorola StarTac. Come on, admit it. You know you spent countless hours ogling that $325 analog beast, dreaming of being able to afford it one day. The original clam-shell flip phone. Motorola did release a sort of version 2.0 with the Timeport, but it never seemed to gain the following the StarTac had.
I really think cell phone companies need to start thinking retro. Imagine buying one of those original, huge-ass phones that were bigger than your head? Or even a re-release of the StarTac, with interchangeable chromium color face plates, mp3 player, PDA function, Bluetooth wireless capability and blow job on demand?
Or they could go back even further. Pokia's got the right idea, with prototypes of old-school telephone receivers that plug into your cell phone! Could you imagine walking down the street, chatting on this badass? I'm super-pissed these aren't actually for sale yet, because I would so already own one. As great as these models are, I'm still awaiting the day when we finally see the release of a rotary cell phone. Obviously it couldn't be a true rotary because that would just take forever, but it could be a normal-looking phone with a rotary function, a la the tactile wheel on Apple's iPod. Man, if a cell phone company would start producing retro phones, they would surely get a leg up on the competition and dominate. I think it's only a matter of time.

Dude, no one would by a "zach morris" cell phone.
You'd be surprised, my brother. Admittedly this may be an idea ahead of its time, but you could very well see people with old-school, retro cell phones in the next couple years.
That second picture from Pokia you showed is exactly what i had in mind, and that's my new phone! I got a free hands-free ear piece with it, and I've always wanted to splice the cables into a regular headset.
